Understanding the New U.S. Import Duties on Taiwanese Goods

Even though our website operates from the Netherlands, STRIDA bikes, parts, and accessories are manufactured in Taiwan. Because of this, the U.S. import duties for Taiwanese goods apply when these products are imported into the United States.

Previous Import Duty: 11%

Before the new tariffs, a bicycle imported from Taiwan was subject to an 11% import duty (based on its tariff class and production in Taiwan. If the base price of the bike was $1,000, the import duty would have added $110, making the total cost $1,110.

New Tariffs on Taiwanese Imports

The new tariffs are cumulative, meaning they apply on top of existing duties, rather than replacing them. Here’s how they affect the final price:

  1. 20% Tariff for Taiwan
    • This new tariff (as of July 31, 2025) applies to all imports, including those from Taiwan and is added to the HS class specific tariff of 11% for bicycle.
    • Calculation: 11 + 20 = 31% total duty.

Final STRIDA bicycle Import Duty for the US: 31%

Under the new tariff structure, the total effective import duty on Taiwanese bicycles rises from 11% to 31%. This means that a bike originally priced at $1,000 would now cost $1,310 after import duties.

Parts and accessories can have lower rates than 11%. For example, if the HS-tariff rate is 5% on a part, the total duties rate will be 5 + 20 = 25%.
