In Munich regular bikes face rush-hour bans on the U-Bahn and S-Bahn. With a folding bike those do not apply to you: folded, it counts as luggage.
U-Bahn, S-Bahn, tram and bus (MVV)
Folded folding bikes count as luggage and may travel on the U-Bahn and S-Bahn even during the blocked times, space permitting; staff on site decide. When there is room they may also go on buses and trams.

By train (Deutsche Bahn)
A folded folding bike travels free as hand luggage on all DB trains, without a bike ticket or reservation. Folded, a STRIDA measures approx. 113–115 × 51 × 23 cm.

Your employer and tax
With a company bike through salary conversion (Dienstrad-Leasing) only 0.25% of the list price a month counts as a taxable benefit; provided on top of your salary, nothing does. Both until the end of 2030. The commuting allowance in your tax return is €0.38 per kilometre from the first kilometre, by bike too. More from the Federal Ministry of Finance.
| Model | List price | A quarter, rounded down to €100 | Taxable benefit a month (1%) |
|---|---|---|---|
| STRIDA LT | €1,149 | €200 | €2.00 |
| STRIDA 5 QR+ | €1,199 | €200 | €2.00 |
| STRIDA SX | €1,249 | €300 | €3.00 |
How it works: the list price is divided by four and rounded down to whole hundreds; 1% of that is added to your taxable income each month. You do not pay that small amount: you pay the leasing instalment from your gross salary, which lowers your income tax and social contributions, and on the benefit you only pay tax at your own rate (for example €2.00 × 35% ≈ €0.70 a month). If your employer provides the bike on top of your salary, the benefit is €0.

A STRIDA needs little maintenance: no chain to oil and a belt that lasts a long time. And what does need doing, you can mostly do yourself: the wheels are mounted on one side only, so you change a tyre without taking the wheel out of the frame, and our manuals guide you step by step.
