Lyon has hills, Croix-Rousse and Fourvière, and a good metro, tram and funicular network. A folding bike lets you ride up by public transport and roll back down.
Metro, tram and bus (TCL)
TCL publishes no separate rule for folded bikes. A regular bike may go on the tram free with a valid ticket, except on weekdays 7:00-9:00 and 16:00-19:00; at weekends without restriction. Folded, a STRIDA measures approx. 113–115 × 51 × 23 cm: check with TCL if you travel in rush hour.

By train (SNCF, TER)
Folded, a folding bike travels as luggage at no extra cost, also on the TGV (in a bag on TGV INOUI and Ouigo).
Your employer and tax
Private employers can pay you a tax-free mobility allowance (forfait mobilités durables) for cycling to work: up to €600 a year, or €900 together with a public transport pass. It is optional for employers. See service-public.gouv.fr.
Does your employer pay this on top of your salary? With €600 a year, a STRIDA from €1,149 pays for itself in about 23 months.

Maintenance in Lyon
No chain, no oil: a STRIDA needs little maintenance. With our manuals you do most yourself, and every part is in stock. Prefer a Lyon bike shop? We help them with advice and parts.
A STRIDA needs little maintenance: no chain to oil and a belt that lasts a long time. And what does need doing, you can mostly do yourself: the wheels are mounted on one side only, so you change a tyre without taking the wheel out of the frame, and our manuals guide you step by step. Still stuck, or no time? Give us the name and e-mail address of a bike shop near you: we will introduce ourselves and help them with advice and parts.Put us in touch with your bike shop →
